We are heading into a period of increasing physical environmental instability

The lack of rapid, deep and immediate emissions cuts have resulted in a situation where it is no longer possible for us to avoid +1.5ºC of warming. We are expected to pass the +1.5ºC threshold in the late 2020’s or early 2030’s. As a result of this inaction we are also very likely to also pass the +2ºC threshold in the next 20 years. Passing these heating thresholds poses severe risks to billions of people.

This workshop is designed to give you the necessary tools to make smart decisions right now to prepare as best you can for the resulting extreme weather events.

By the end of this workshop you will:

Have a good understanding of what extreme events are projected for your area

Understand the impact of heating on the global economy

Make informed decisions about adaptation

Be able to put an extreme weather preparation plan in place

Understand extreme weather projections for your area

During the workshop we will explore all the projections for your area using the latest data available. We will explore what your risks are for heatwaves, extreme percipitation, drought, fire weather and sea-level rise. This knowledge is essential in order to plan ahead and develop adaptation and resilience strategies.

Workshop Outline

Current Climate Crisis Snapshot

We like to start the programme with a reality check. We will examine our current trajectory and what is required in order to meet the scientific targets to keep global temperatures below 2ºC of heating.

Impact on the Global Economy

During this section we will examine the projected impact on the global economy at various levels of heating. We will also examine regional economic impacts.

Extreme Weather Projections

Using the latest data we will examine extreme weather projections for your area. This knowledge is essentail in planning business and personal continuity strategies. There is no need to be caught off guard.

What You Can Do To Prepare

This will be a practical session where we will creatively explore the options open to you to prepare yourself and your business for regulatory disruption, as well as the impacts from +1.5ºC and more of heating.
