One of the benefits of having a digital workplace is a reduction in OPEX (operating expenses) and this is well illustrated by CISCO who were able, in a 5-year time frame, to save $196M in operating expenses as a direct result of evolving their traditional workplace into a digital one.
Here is a bit of background to their story.
They currently have an employee base of just over 80,000 and occupy just over 2 million sq. m of office space in 94 countries. With the design of their digital workplace, they have transformed how this workforce works and from where. Interestingly, although they had increased their workforce by 20% during the last 5 years, their real estate portfolio, over the same period, decreased by 30% which came from workplace optimization and being able to close 239 buildings (which generated $294M in sales) and saved them $196M OPEX as mentioned earlier.
