Have you heard of a concept called “vinterning?” - it refers to something called Virtual Internship where students become interns at companies - but virtually. (Check out Virtual Internship Partners for an example of this)
As remote work becomes more and more common the skill to be able to work remotely is going to be invaluable, so the sooner you acquire those skills the better. Signing up for a virtual internship will definitely go a long way in helping a student acquire those skills.
Besides learning remote work skills what are the other advantages of “vinterning”? From a piece entitled Are virtual internships pointless?
“Interns don't have to go and rent an apartment, they don't have to buy a suit - they can do the remote placement and be really judged on their skills alone.”
