I'm the founder of FutureWork IQ where I spend my time assisting businesses to design digital workplaces or “offices in the cloud.” These environments enable companies to allow flexible and remote working for their teams. I also teach the digital literacy, fluency, communication and collaboration skills needed to work in these modern technology-rich workplaces.

Today is the start of the COP26 climate talks in Glasgow.

This event will likely be the most important of our lifetime as we have don’t have the luxury of time to put us on a different emission trajectory.

“Climate change is no longer a future problem. It is a now problem. To stand a chance of limiting global warming to 1.5°C, we have eight years to almost halve greenhouse gas emissions: eight years to make the plans, put in place the policies, implement them and ultimately deliver the cuts. The clock is ticking loudly.”— Inger Andersen, Executive Director of UNEP

While moving the global economy to a low carbon economy is going to require large complex system wide changes, which our governments have to facilitate, as businesses and individually there are things that we can do, choices we can make, in our smaller spheres of influence to ensure that we are on the right side of history regarding the climate crisis.

There is no time to lose. Here is what we can do in our individual capacity to accelerate the momentum of change:

🌍 Become Climate Conscious
👩🏻‍🎓 Become Carbon Literate
🗳️ Vote climate deniers out of office
🌱 Switch to a plant-based diet
🚘 Drive less (switch to EV if you can)
☀️ Switch to renewable energy
✈️ Fly less (the worst transport choice)
