Digital Literacy leaps to the fore as a must have skill

A fundamental requirement for an individual to be able to work in technology rich environments, such as is being experienced now by large numbers of people having to remote work while in lockdown, is being digitally literate.


In one of our training programmes at FutureWork IQ, we teach the competencies that make up the broad term referred to as Digital Literacy - some of the more import being:


ICT LITERACY: The ability to use digital technology, communication tools, and/or networks to access, manage, integrate, evaluate, and create information in order to function in a digital workplace.


COMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION LITERACY: The ability to share information and messages by collaborative digital tools for personal and social purposes and to participate in communities and online networks.


MEDIA LITERACY: The ability to access, analyse, evaluate, create, and act using all forms of digital communication (audio, pictures, text and video)


This is literally like speaking a language. The less fluent an individual is using these to communication and share ideas the harder it is to work virtually.
