I'm the founder of FutureWork IQ where I spend my time assisting businesses to design digital workplaces or “offices in the cloud.” These environments enable companies to allow flexible and remote working for their teams. I also teach the digital literacy, fluency, communication and collaboration skills needed to work in these modern technology-rich workplaces.

The one carbon emission source which is immediately impacted by remote work is transportation. If you look at this data (Sourced here) you will notice that domestic air travel and road transport with a medium car is what is creating the most emissions from transportation.

travel carbon footprint

Both these emission sources can be dramatically reduced by working remotely and meeting online.

We have the technology and the know how so there is really no excuses not to switch to less carbon intensive ways of working and meeting.
