Despite being a year into remote work for many, I still hear this when talking to teams.
ME: So how do you stay in contact with your team?
THEM: Mostly by email… (siloed communication)
ME: What else do you use?
THEM: Oh IM’s, voice notes and telephone calls (all siloed)
ME: And meetings?
THEM: We use Microsoft Teams for that…
ME: Do you have a sense of how the rest of the company is doing or what they working on outside of people you email, IM and call?
THEM: No…
ME: 🤔
No wonder people just want to get back to the office! What a fragmented way of trying to communicate, collaborate and stay in touch!
With just one small change, ditching emails, IM’s and phone calls in favour of communicating in ONE place, in this case MS Teams, silos can be drought down, frustration avoided and productivity and connection improved.
See how MS Teams can be used here:
There is a reason these tools (Teams, Yammer, Slack, Workplace etc.) are referred to as Enterprise SOCIAL Networks! Besides being way more efficient than siloed communication they also foster as sense of connection.
