I'm the founder of FutureWork IQ where I spend my time assisting businesses to design digital workplaces or “offices in the cloud.” These environments enable companies to allow flexible and remote working for their teams. I also teach the digital literacy, fluency, communication and collaboration skills needed to work in these modern technology-rich workplaces.

Cape Town Traffic

Serious question:

You have a meeting scheduled with someone across the city. Let’s say your accountant. Why would you get in a car, sit in traffic for 30mins or more one way to get to the meeting? An hour in traffic for a 1-hour (or less) meeting, when you could just use either of these:

– FaceTime
– Skype
– Zoom
– Hangouts
– WhatsApp Video Call
– Messenger Video Call

I really don’t understand why someone would prefer this way of meeting to sitting in the traffic. Obviously there will always be the need for high-touch in-person meetings, like high level negations, sensitive conversations, conflict resolutions or first time meetings. But for everything else virtual meetings should be an option.
