Virtual Speakers – a way to reduce emissions

Peter du ToitI'm the founder of FutureWork IQ where I spend my time assisting businesses to design digital workplaces or “offices in the cloud.” These environments enable companies to allow flexible and remote working for their teams. I also teach the digital literacy, fluency, communication and collaboration skills needed to work in these modern technology-rich workplaces.

This past week I spoke via a Skype link at the 50plus-skills conference in Johannesburg. We covered de-urbanization, anywhere work enabled by an “office in the cloud” as well as the virtual work skills a required to work this way.

Hotel costs: Zero
Car commute emissions: Zero

If we believe the science, and there is currently no reason not to, we HAVE TO begin to change the way we do things, business as usual is NOT an option.
