I'm the founder of FutureWork IQ where I spend my time assisting businesses to improve their climate literacy so as to understand the projected impacts from the expanding climate crisis and how to adapt their workplaces in the face of these impacts.

In our climate literacy workshops we use the #EnROADS climate simulator to surface challenges that we will be facing in the very near future.

For example, as we continue to heat, there are some serious consequences to the global economy. Here you see the estimates of a reduction in global GDP at +1.54ºC.

How will we function in a world that experiences this kind of reduction in GDP? What will your career look like? What will your business look like?

Right now we are at +1.3ºC of long-term heating above the preindustrial average and we are expected, on our current trajectory, to cross +1.5ºC permanently early in 2030.

The past 12 months the average global heating has reached +1.56ºC, the impacts of this to be felt as we go into the northern hemisphere summer.

There are two urgent questions that need immediate answers:

  1. How do we prevent global temperatures from breaching +2ºC
  2. What adaptation strategies need to be in place as we approach +1.5ºC

We are stepping into a brand new world. How ready are you?
