I'm the founder of FutureWork IQ where I spend my time assisting businesses to design digital workplaces or “offices in the cloud.” These environments enable companies to allow flexible and remote working for their teams. I also teach the digital literacy, fluency, communication and collaboration skills needed to work in these modern technology-rich workplaces.

This from Phys.org: Aviation emissions’ impact on larger than on climate study finds

What this all means is that we have to commit to flying less.

Over on Twitter Daniel Katzenberger made this observation on this latest news re the impact of aviation, and I agree 100%:

“I propose that there are three primary reasons why people fly: pay, prestige, and passion. I think we should all recognize what is motivating us to fly and then to think deeply whether this motivation is worth reducing humankind’s remaining carbon budget.”

We already have the technology to replace most business meetings that we would normally fly for with high quality video calls. The same can be said about events.

The sooner we make the necessary sacrifices to reduce emissions the better.
